Low carb diet.. should I?

i'm one of those type of people who can work out everyday i drink loads of water i eat 1500 calories and i either stay the same weight or gain weight i weigh 188 and i'm 18 i think that my metabolism is slow ive been working so hard 2 months ago i was 198 then i went down to 184 then i went back up to 188 low calorie diets always make me hit a plateau in the 180's it just doesn't work for me so today im starting a low carb diet(the atkins diet) and i'm praying that it'll work do you think it will? and do you have any other advice?
