Why do people believe that blood transfusions are acceptable to the God of the Bible?

Yes, why don't we all just drain our blood from birth? That could be derived from that quote as well =) No more blood, no more problem. And then we can't eat food that contains iron or proteins either. I mean the production of blood is totally evil, amirite?
