Can I, by myself, trade in a vehicle to a dealership in which I'm the co-signer of?

I'm on the title as the co-signer as well. I had to take the vehicle from the first person listed on the loan due to them not paying. Can I do this free and clear or will they have to be there in person or sign something etc......................?
